Early year racing

The team has been busy racing away as we kicked off the first part of 2013. Below are some of the races and results the team has achieved.

In March Ben put in an awesome ride to collect 2nd Open (15th overall) in the grueling 100km capital punishment MTB event in Canberra. In this same event in the 50km race Allan collected 7th. With over 800 competitors in each event these were both nice results.

Later in March, Steve, Mick and Allan took part in the inaugural Snowy Ultimate Challenge. This was a tough event taking in the numerous long climbs around Jindabyne. Allan manage to come home as the first masters rider.

In April Michael Tolhurst took out the win in the Vets Gunning Two Day tour with a dominant performance across the three stages of racing.

Later in April Michael Payne raced his first Mt Baw Baw classic. This is one of the toughest races on the calendar which finishes at the top of Mt Baw Baw. Michael put in a great performance and is already planning his next assault on the race next year.

The very next weekend, Steve Isbel teamed up with Paul Kennedy to collect a silver and bronze medal at the National Para-cycling championships (tandem) in Victoria.

On the final weekend in April Allan took on the dirt roads of west ACT for the Uriarra Roubaix. Allan managed to collect his second consecutive title in the event, putting the win down to his Trek Domane road bike and Bontrager Tubeless wheel system.

In early May a large contingent of 8 Tiffen riders travelled to Cootamundra for the Cootamundra Haycaters and recovery handicap races. The team performed very well with most of the team in the 2nd and 3rd last groups on the road. This race also served as a team building exercise being one of the first opportunities for some of the new team members to race with the rest of the team.
